- You may have contrasting skin types on Your face and Body. For example, I have oily skin on my face, shoulders and back and dry skin on the rest of my body.
- It is also good to know that skin types can change or the intensity (very or mildly dry|oily) can vary at certain times. I have seen people who complain that they had an oily face which suddenly became dry or normal.
These could be internal factors like genetics and some conditions like Diabetes or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (hormonal factors) or external factors like diet and lifestyle, etc. I will explain these factors further in my next post.
There is a simple test by which You know your skin type:
STEP 1: Wash Your face and allow to dry.2: Do not apply anything after washing and wait for about 2 hours.
3: Then examine Your skin areas by how they feel and look.
Normal skin
This is the kind of skin one typically defines as glowing, it feels just right and balanced. It does not mean there are no breakouts, but they are minimal and occasional when compared to oily skin.Oily skin
It feels greasy to touch, the pores are enlarged and breakouts are very common. The summer or hot weather becomes Your enemy because You always have a shiny face. Avoid applying oil-based products on Your skin.Dry skin
The skin feels dehydrated, flaky and the pores are tight. Sometimes You may notice scaling of the skin. Unlike for oily skin, it is the winter or dry season that one dreads because You have to deal with dryness.
Combination skin
As the name implies, the skin is oily in some areas and dry on others. On the face, the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) is oily, therefore has enlarged pores while the rest of the face is dry.
